55% merlot, 38% cabernet sauvignon, 5% cabernet franc, 2% petit verdot. Planted in clay and gravel soils overlooking the Gironde River estuary. 12 months in 15% new, and 30% one-wine old barrels and the rest in stainless tanks. Harvesting of the merlot began on Oct 5 and Oct 19 for the cabernet. 14.5% alcohol. 8,750 cases produced. High toned, the perfumed nose offers crushed flowers, blackberry and currant with underlying loamy clay soil. The palate is packed with black cherry and black plums, and fine-grained tannins linger for over 30 seconds. A terrific petite chateau. Enjoy on release and over the following five to eight years. Stephane Derenoncourt consults.

Sweet red strawberries, licorice and some mint. Ripe almost jammy fruit on the palate with chewy tannins. Wood still very present in the finish and tannins need some time to soften up. Very charming still. Drink from 2015.

Very dark crimson like most Stéphane Derenoncourt 2010s. Luscious, almost-but-not-quite overripe nose. Dense and dramatic. So thick you could stand a teaspoon up in it. Very unusual. Rather tart and hard work on the end. A bit exaggerated but should be a good buy. Not relaxed but no shortage of impact.

Has the ripeness of the vintage, with a dark core of plum and cassis guided by solid, well-integrated tannins that let black licorice and Black Forest cake notes play out on the finish. Drink now through 2018. -JM
