93 points,

Stephen Tanzer's IWC, September 2012

Good bright straw-yellow. Ripe nectarine lifted by nutmeg and lavender on the nose. Large-scaled, smooth and sweet; not a particularly refined style of Corton-Charlemagne but impressive for its plush, ripe middle and its intense flavors of stone fruits, aromatic spices, powdered stone and menthol. Plenty of acidity here to give it lift. Finishes dry and energetic, with a light dusting of tannins. I'd like to revisit this fascinating wine several years down the road, after it's had a chance to burn off some of its baby fat. 93(+?)

About Winery

Pascal Marchand, formerly of Domaine Comte Armand and Domaine de la Vougeraie, has founded his own négociant operation and is now producing reds and whites that he both vinifies as well as purchases. Marchand noted that he had just acquired space in the old Thomas Moillard cellars and will be vinifying more of his range beginning in 2011. He also explained that relative to his approach at Armand and Vougeraie, he's using more of an infusion method as opposed to looking for higher levels of extraction. New wood is prominent as the 1ers carry about 50% and the grands crus 100%. I was impressed by what I tasted and the total range is even larger than what is reflected by the notes. Moreover, the range of grands crus is more than admirable, especially to have Musigny as a négociant wine, which is relatively rare these days.
