Intense, rich and quite fleshy wine that avoids wearing the "fruit bomb" label by a structure of fine and pleasantly drying tannins that offer subtle restraint. Strong plum, dary cherry, chocolate, anise/spice and toasty oak flavours.

Good medium red. Slightly reduced aromas of redcurrant, milk chocolate and smoky oak struck me as a bit merlot-like. Sweet, musky red fruit flavors are lifted by spices and framed by an edge of acidity. Shows good life but I wanted a bit more in the way of primary pinot fruit. Finishes with slightly drying dusty tannins.

Cherry pip, licorice root, almond, plenty of spice, seasoning of dried herb and something like warm earth - the smell of it is immediately appealing and identifiably Kiwi Pinot Noir. Medium weight with attractive grip, balanced acidity - not too keen or over enthusiastic - and plenty of cherry, spice and herb flavours to come along with it. One bottle I noted tomato paste, though I wasn't particularly taking notes with any (of the bottles that is, tomato paste being way too messy). Savoury dried herb finish of pleasing length. Good style and one I enjoy drinking.

This bold red offers wild blackberry flavors that take on a brambly note, with velvety tannins and notes of tobacco, campfire and mineral. Drink now through 2019. 400 cases imported. -MW
