2010 Nido, Bodegas El Clio
Proprietary Blend: 750ml
$39.99
Cory Gowan, JJ Buckley, November 2012
Dark opaque purple from core to rim. Big and concentrated but still soft, with pure aromas of red cherry and raspberry, Eastern spice, vanilla, and crème de cassis, coupled with a touch of mocha and a lilting sweetness that is quite attractive. Exceptionally pure, El Nido has really succeeded with their 2010 Clio. A monster wine, yet it's alive with acidity and a pure core of fruit. Turns velvety as it flows over the palate and finishes with fine tannins that coat the mouth. If drinking young, a good decant is recommended - not to tame the tannins, but to allow the complexity to shine through.
