Deep crimson-purple; an archetypal McLaren Vale shiraz, stacked to the rafters with juicy blackberry fruit, dark chocolate, licorice and well-balanced and integrated ripe tannins, oak submerged in the fruit. Classy packaging a plus. Drink or cellar.

The first vintage for this cuvee and a blend of 100% Shiraz, from all over McLaren Vale, the 2010 Thomas Goss Shiraz was aged briefly in predominatly neutral oak. Inky and color and an upfront, creamy, and hedonistic Shiraz, this gives up a solid bouquet of plum and smoky black fruits, roasted meats, thyme, and a hint of mint to go with a rich, full-bodied, and fleshy palate weight and feel. Made by Ben Riggs, this is a rock solid bottle of Shiraz meant for drinking over the coming handful of years. - Jeb Dunnuck

Deep ruby. Highly perfumed aromas of cherry, cassis, licorice and smoked meat. Dense, fat and ripe, but with good lift to its black and blue fruit flavors. Finishes with sweet, harmonious tannins and lingering smokiness. This line-up of wines is made by Ben Riggs.

An old-fashioned, iron-fisted shiraz made by Ben Riggs, this starts off black, brightening to warm red fruit in the finish. It feels substantial, melding savory notes of roots and herbs with sunny fruit. For a mutton chop.

Plush-textured and multi-layered, delivering a serious mouthful of blackberry, guava, cherry and black pepper flavors that persist into the expressive finish. Best from 2013 through 2022. -HS
