Eddie Wolowski, JJ Buckley, April 2012

The vineyard is planted to 70% merlot, 20% cabernet franc, and 10% cabernet sauvignon. The average age of the vines in this cuvee is over 30 years old and planted to clay and limestone soil. This cuvee is based upon a selection of grapes that also see aging in used barrels from top grand cru estates in the Haut Medoc. Showing a ruby core with a pale crimson rim. The floral nose transitions into a palate revealing ripe, red cherries and hints of subtle mineral notes. Tightly knit, with lots of tannins. Stephane Derenoncourt consults. Give it a couple of years and enjoy over the following 3-5 years.

88 points,

James Suckling, jamessuckling.com, April 2012

A wine with pretty fruit and black chocolate character. Medium to full body with firm tannins and a medium finish. Little short.

About Winery

Bought in 1989, Château Côte Montpezat is located at Belvès de Castillon in the A.O.C. (controlled label of origin) Côtes de Castillon.

A legend says that those who listen attentively to the well at Château Côte Montpezat can hear the pilgrims of Saint Jacques de Compostelle who, crossing these grounds came to quench their thirst... An ancient postal relay of the XVII century attests this stopover on one of the routes of the pilgrimage.
