Alex Lallos, JJ Buckley, April 2012

60% merlot and 40% cabernet franc. From a 6.5-hectare parcel, average vine age is 35 years, planted in quartz-rich gravel, clay and limestone. Dense opaque core with a medium bright purple rim. Brambly nose of blackberry, fresh picked strawberry, and underbrush scents. The palate is balanced, with subtle red fruits as well as rich dark chocolate flavor. Unlike many of its vintage peers, this one has no tangy streak on the finish although acidity is present. Great texture and overall quality. Really nice stuff. Enjoy 2015-2022.

Aromatic and very pretty with dried berries and cherries. Bright. Medium to full body, with fine tannins and bright, clean finish. Medium center palate. 94% Merlot and 6% Cabernet Franc.

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, April 2012

The 2011 Chambrun (94% Merlot and 6% Cabernet Franc that hit 14% natural alcohol) exhibits chocolate, roast beef, smoke, mocha and black cherry notes. This fleshy 2011 is ideal for drinking over the next 7-8 years.

Now owned by the dynamic proprietor Silvio Denz, also the owner of Lalique crystal and Chateau Faugeres, this small estate in Lalande de Pomerol is an up-and-coming star. I liked the basic cuvee as much as their special reserve selection, Le Bourg.
