This wine is the result of a severe selection using the three traditional grape varieties Sémillon, Sauvignon and Muscadelle.  Each vintage is vinified and aged in totally new French-oak barrels for 20-24 months.

80% semillon, 15% sauvignon, 5% muscadelle. Planted on gravel and mixed clay and limestone soil. The semillon is aged in 100% new oak, while the sauvignon blanc and muscadelle are aged in stainless steel. A leaner style, this shows chalky minerality, good vivacity, and less ripe, exotic fruits. Bright citrus notes take center stage, complemented nicely by moderate amounts of botrytis. Clean and fresh with a nice element of spice. Enjoy over the next 10-20 years.

Cropped at just 8 hectoliters per hectare (due to hail) from September 15 until October 14, the 2011 La Tour Blanche is a blend of 84% Semillon, 12% Sauvignon Blanc and 4% Muscadelle. It has a well-defined nose of white peach and almond. Even if it is missing some of the intensity of its peers, through tasting of individual lots, I believe that the bouquet will evolve by time of the final assemblage. The palate is medium-bodied with very fine balance. It has an attractive core of ripe, botrytized fruit and a linear, focused finish that dare not put a foot wrong, remaining tight and precise with a daring touch of lemongrass and lemon thyme on the aftertaste. Drink 2014-2030.

Very light, bright yellow with gold highlights. Vibrant aromas of white peach and kiwi complicated by marzipan and green papaya. Then spicier on the palate, with richer flavors of peppery apricot and peach jelly joined by enticing mineral tones on the long finish. This is a lighter-styled La Tour Blanche (the color tells you so from the start) made from very low yield of 9 hectoliters per hectare, as this estate was heavily hit by the April hail.

This winery has the most modern and efficient equipment, yet keeps the more traditional aspects of winemaking. Recently renovated and air-conditioned, this winery stocks nearly 400 Bordeaux traditional barrels. They are made from French oak (stave-wood) and are renewed every vintage.
