Discreet notes of algae, oyster shell and white flowers slide gracefully into rich, concentrated and overtly muscular middle weight flavors that possess both excellent volume and palate staining dry extract. The sheer depth here is most impressive as is the persistence on the borderline bone dry finish. ♥ - Comments: Sweet spot Outstanding

The 2011 Chablis Montee de Tonnerre is another of the more reticent wines in the lineup, but its potential is easier to see. Layers of brisk, saline minerality support the fruit in a typical, vivid expression of Montee de Tonnerre. The 2011 is endowed with lovely overall balance and tons of class. A hint of ocean breeze delineates the bright finish. Anticipated maturity: 2015+. -Antonio Galloni

Bright pale color. Complex aromas of white pepper, snap pea and fresh herbs call to mind a gruner veltliner. Moderately ripe but nicely concentrated and silky in texture, with good inner-palate lift. Finishes saline and dry, with pepper and herb notes contributing energy. Not a particularly fruity wine, this premier cru will almost certainly need a couple years of bottle aging.
