88% semillon, 8% sauvignon blanc 4% muscadelle. Barrel fermented, then aged in 33% new oak. Vines are planted on clay and limestone soils over a limestone base. Beautiful vibrant gold color. This shows lots of yellow stone fruits, accented with vanilla bean and citrus rind and a spicy botrytis note. Vibrant and fresh, with well-contoured fruit and good length. This is well developed and delineated with a rich creamy texture and acidity that carries the flavors through a long mineral-laden finish. Enjoy over the next 10-20 years.

Intense character of dried apricots, pineapples and honey follow through to a full body, very sweet and spicy. Oily texture. A cross between the outstanding 2001 and 2003.

The 2011 de Myrat offers a lightly honeyed but very pure bouquet with subtle tropical notes and satisfactory levels of botrytized fruit. It is actually reminiscent of a top Doisy-Vedrines. The palate has a ripe, sorbet-like sweetness on the entry with notes of blood orange and apricot, while the finish is composed, with crisp acidity imparting tension and precision, and a residual tang of Clementine lingering in the mouth. Xavier Pontac has overseen a very fine de Myrat that will be worth seeking out after bottling. Drink: 2014-2025.

Deep yellow with golden highlights. Initially reduced nose clears with air to offer smoky apricot and peach aromas. On the palate this has the lighter frame of a Barsac, but the peach, apricot and papaya flavors are richer and sweeter than most of the wines from this subzone in 2011. Still, de Myrat is successful this year thanks to the vintage's telltale acidity, which provides adequate lift to the fruit flavors.

Ripe and well-endowed, with youthfully raw apricot, peach and orange notes still knitting together, liberally laced with almond cream and ginger. Powerful finish.-J.M.
