Classic copper-tinged salmon color. Give this a few minutes to express aromatics of dried leather, pepper, and grilled peach. Oily and rich on entry, this reveals sumptuous peach and nectarine tart flavors on the mid-palate, followed by savory earth and mineral notes on the back end. The lingering finish is atypical for a rose. French rose gets serious! Satisfying now, this will develop further with another 6 to 12 months in bottle.

($30) (a 50/50 blend of mourvedre and cinsault): Light orange. Pungent, spice-accented aromas of dried red fruits, orange peel and lavender. Fresh and racy on entry, then fuller in the middle, offering powerful red fruit and citrus flavors and a touch of candied anise. Finishes rich but dry, with firm grip, excellent length and lingering floral and spice notes. --- Josh Raynolds
