93 points,

James Suckling, jamessuckling.com, April 2012

Full body, with a solid core of ripe fruit and mineral, stone, chocolate and sweet-ripe fruit. Sold and silky tannins. Very well done for the vintage. I like this better than many past vintages.

Jeff Loo, JJ Buckley, April 2012

60% merlot, 20% cabernet sauvignon, 20% cabernet franc. Reddish purple core. Wild game, rose petal, and lavender scent the nose, progressing to herbs and red fruit. Discreet tannins slowly build toward the finish. This is a balanced and well-crafted wine that will benefit from extended aging. Drink from 2018 on.

88 -91 points,

Wine Spectator, April 2012

Dark in profile, with a strong cocoa frame to the blackberry and fig notes. Polished in texture, but more heft than purity in the end.-J.M.

About Winery

Chateau l'Arrosee was first listed in Le Feret among the Saint-Emilion premiers crus in 1868, when it belonged to Pierre Magne, Minister to Napoleon III. The outstanding situation could have ranked it among the Premiers Grands Crus Classes at the time of the 1955 classification. However it was ranked as a Grands Crus Classes as, at the time, it had neither vinification nor ageing facilities and the harvest was sold to the co-operative. It was no until 1956 that Francois Rodhain made a determined effort to vinify and age the wine at the chateau. Since August 2002, Chateau l'Arrosee has been run by the enthusiastic new proprietors, Roger and Jean-Philippe Caille. This new phase is undoubtedly the starting point for the rebirth of this Saint-Emilion Grand Cru.
