Devon Magee, JJ Buckley, April 2012

76% merlot, 17% cabernet franc, and 7% cabernet sauvignon from 13 hectares on the south-facing, limestone plateau between Larcis Ducasse and Tertre Roteboeuf. Aged in 80% new and 20% once-used barrels. Ripe fruits on the nose are followed by a rich, lifted palate texture. Definitely a richer version for this estate. The fresh acidity does help to keep the liqueur-like fruit and body high-toned, while the sweet fruit continues onto the finish. Enjoy on release and over the following 10 years. Tasted twice.

89 points,

James Suckling, jamessuckling.com, April 2012

Blueberry and cherry character with hint of smoke follow through to a full body, with big velvety tannins. A little overworked but not overdone. Could turn out outstanding quality with the elevage.

90 -92 points,

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, April 2012

This dense ruby/purple-colored blend of 72% Merlot, 18% Cabernet Franc and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon tips out at a whopping 14.5%. From a top site, the Cote Pavie, this is a very fine 2011 with abundant cassis, kirsch, licorice and loamy soil undertones. Its sweet tannin, plush opulence and medium to full-bodied feel are all impressive. Anticipated maturity: now-2028.

89 -92 points,

Wine Spectator, April 2012

Polished feel from the start, with ample layers of blackberry and blueberry sauce liberally framed by ganache and graphite. A touch firm in the end, but the stuffing is there to soak that up.-J.M.
