Alex Lallos, JJ Buckley, April 2002

70% cabernet sauvignon and 30% merlot. One of the smallest of the classified Margaux growths. Absolutely beautiful youthful ruby color throughout. Lighter on the nose but really pretty fruit all the way through. Perfumed and elegant array of rose petal, strawberry, and loamy soil. Almost Burgundian on the palate, with lovely strawberry and rose extract flavors. Soft and delicious, and a great example of minimalist interference in a tough vintage, as the fruit is allowed to speak for itself. Enjoy 2014-2022. Tasted twice.

A wine with very good to outstanding fruit and ripe tannins that follow through to a medium to full body, with velvety tannins and a juicy finish.

A blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 36% Merlot and 4% Cabernet Franc and aged in 35% new oak, the Ferriere has a very pure bouquet that is so elegant and refined. The palate is very well balanced with a pleasant fleshy entry. It has an effervescent red fruit profile with hints of orange zest towards the bright, perky finish. I hope it is as delicious as this after bottling.
