about this wine:
The vines, of an average age of 30 years, are planted on soils of gravel and clay for the Merlot and silt where the Cabernet Franc shows its full character. The vineyard management and the vinification are carried out traditionally and with the same care as on the other Ets. Jean-Pierre MOUEIX properties.
Château Lafleur-Gazin generally has a deep colour, a vivid nose and a good texture backed up by a firm tannic structure. It definitely needs to be kept a few years for full enjoyment.

Chewy and tannic but some fruit underneath. Full and juicy. Like to see a little more fruit in the center palate but it should come around nicely.

Planted to 80% merlot and 20% cabernet franc. This 8.5-hectare estate, sandwiched between Lafleur and Gazin on the northern slop of Pomerol's plateau, has been farmed by the Moueix family since 1976. Sandwiched between Lafleur and Gazin on the northern slope of Pomerol's plateau, this has been farmed by the Moueix family since 1976. Soils are mixed silt, gravel and clay. Translucent ruby color. Bouquet of dried cherry and clay. A melange of currant, cassis, and pomegranate flavors seasoned with tobacco and light truffle inform the palate. High toned fruit is tempered with equally high toned acidity, providing lift to the entry and midpalate. Seashells and sleek minerality keep this taut, while precise and angular tannins contribute to the bone dry finish. Best to give this 4-5 years and enjoy over the following 10. Annual production about 3,300 cases.

Offers sweet, high-toned blueberry and plum fruit with toasted spice and a nice fleshy feel through the finish. It's not deep, but nicely rendered. Tasted non-blind.-J.M.
