Aromas of blueberries, chocolate and blackberries follow through to a full to medium body with firm tannins and a pleasing finish. Juicy.
Neil Mechanic, JJ Buckley, April 2012
Planted to 90% merlot and 10% cabernet franc in sandy clay, gravel and sand across 8 hectares of non-contiguous plots. The best of these is the 5-hectare plot which surrounds the church in Pomerol. Average vine age is 35 years. Medium purple-garnet hue. The muted nose reveals some clay and red fruit aromas. The entry and midpalate are juicy, with a harmonious blend of red fruit, tapenade, and black licorice flavors. Good structure. The succulent core is energized by wonderful minerality and acidity, making for a balanced finish. This is tempting to enjoy on release, but will fare well after 10-15 years in bottle. Serious effort. Part of the Moueix stable of wines.

A strong effort with nearly 14% natural alcohol, this 2011 exhibits abundant notes of black cherries and black currants intertwined with hints of mulberries, damp earth, licorice and cedar. Evolved, ripe, medium-bodied and surprisingly rich, intense and savory for the vintage, it should drink nicely for 10-15 years. It is a sleeper of the vintage.

Offers both guts and charm, with a very solid core of plum cake, fig and cassis laced with hints of ganache and roasted spice notes. There's a nice mouthfilling feel through the finish, with more oomph and drive than most. Tasted non-blind.-J.M.
