77% cabernet sauvignon, 10% merlot, 10% petit verdot, and 3% cabernet franc. 12.7% alcohol. Planted on 51-hectares of sand, clay and limestone, with an average vine age of 35 to 40 years. Aged for 14-16 months in 40% new barrels. Nearly opaque purple core with a fuchsia rim. Bouquet of perfumed cherry blossom and cassis eclipsed by limestone minerality. Primary black plum, black cherry, and blackberry flavors on the palate. Sharp tannins on the finish. Denis Dubourdieu consults. Enjoy from 2016 to 2023.

A sleeper of the vintage, the 2011 Meyney (which escaped the hailstorm that devastated the northern Pauillac border and St.-Estephe boundary line on September 1) possesses an opaque ruby/purple color as well as a big, sweet bouquet of black olives, black currants, charcoal and earth. Dense and medium to full-bodied, this classic St.-Estephe offers good acidity and ripe tannin. It should drink well for 12-15 years.
Old timers undoubtedly remember Meyney-s brilliant track record in the decades of the 1970s and 1980s, and it appears things are back on track at this St.-Estephe estate.

This has concentration and depth, with a very gravelly undertow to the dark plum and cassis fruit, all framed by a mouthwatering tobacco edge. Shows depth and drive on the finish.-J.M.
