about this wine:
From soils of gravel and sand, the wines of Chateau Siran are typical of the Margaux region's great growths. Powerful yet refined, the perfect balance of tannins, fruit and acidity is at all times sought. Wine capable of long ageing, time rewards the palate with caresses of velvet and silk.

48% merlot, 40% cabernet sauvignon, 11% petit verdot, and 1% cabernet franc. Aged for 12 months in approximately 35% new oak. Restrained aromas on the nose of bright red cherry, red currant, and loganberry. The palate offers subtle vanilla, bright red forest fruit, and freshly picked herb flavors. This is a complex wine showing great restraint. Lighter-bodied, yet showing great balance, this should prove rewarding while young.

Elegant and refined red with well-integrated tannins with a mineral, mint and cassis character. Delicious sample. 52% Merlot, 36% Cabernet-Sauvignon, 11% Petit-Verdot, and 1% Cabernet Franc.

The Siran 2011 is a blend of 52% Merlot, 36% Cabernet Sauvignon, 11% Petit Verdot and 1% Cabernet Franc picked from 8th until 27th September. Following on from their successful 2010, it has a well defined bouquet with lovely floral notes, fresh strawberries and a touch of cedar. It is very composed. The palate is medium-bodied with tensile tannins on the entry, good acidity, fresh and vibrant with a crisp, fresh finish that bodes well for the future. Siran is back on form.

Nice fleshy feel here, with succulent plum and blackberry fruit that stays pure through the black tea-infused finish. Fine mineral thread flitters through the finish as well.-J.M.
