An attractively complex nose offers up yeast, apple, spiced pear and soft floral scents. There is equally good complexity on the moderately effervescent flavors that possess good character and persistence. This delicious effort is not particularly refined but it is both satisfying and refreshing. It could be enjoyed now or held for a few more years first.

50% chardonnay, 30% pinot noir, 20% pinot meunier. Light yellow gold in color, this complex wine has forward aromas of ripe apple and bright expressions of lemon with understated notes of toast and fresh yeast. This flavorful Champagne offers breadth across the midpalate and a long finish propelled by integrated acids. Not creamy as such, the lingering citrus infused flavors mingle with a touch of caramel in the finish.

(L8627211): Light gold. Ripe yellow plum and dried pear on the intensely perfumed nose, with complicating notes of white flowers and chalk. Silky, concentrated, sappy citrus and orchard fruit flavors and notes of dusty minerals, anise and honey. The tangy finish shows a refreshingly bitter quality and clings with very good spiciness and length.

Clean and fragrant with red fruit, this wine's tart cherry and strawberry flavors integrate with the soil character, which acts as a scrim over the fruit. It feels lush within the tight confines of its structure. Built for food, this will accompany roast game birds.

A hint of yeasty bread dough accents flavors of pippin apple, smoke, Meyer lemon and stony mineral. Firm and focused, with a raw almond note on the moderate finish. Drink now through 2015. 5,000 cases imported. -AN
