Chuck Hayward, JJ Buckley, November 2010

40% chardonnay, 10% pinot meunier, 50% pinot noir. Yellow straw in color with pronounced aromas of roasted apple and honeyed toast in the background. This cuvée is medium bodied in weight with flavors of baked fruits and notes of brioche on the back-palate. While there is some texture on the midpalate, it tightens up on the finish creating a firm and elegant ending. (L0154NA04200)

Tasted from a half bottle, the rich and complex flavors of Brut La Française show just that extra touch of maturity. The wine has peach and almond flavors that contrast well with the taut, nervy edge. It's full in the mouth and ripe, and works well both as an apéritif and a food Champagne. -R.V.

90 points,

Wine Spectator, November 2011

Balanced, with a rich, toasty character, bright acidity and subtle notes of lemon curd, cream, quince paste and fleur de sel. Ends with a firm, minerally finish. Drink now through 2015. 30,000 cases imported. -AN
