Medium yellow. Subtly complex nose reveals pineapple, ginger and minerals offers the aromatic lift of a great late-harvest German wine. Then large-scaled and impressively rich, with flavors oforange zest, minerals and spices perfectly framed by lively acidity. Wonderfully rich and spicy wine, with a very long aftertaste. 91-94 points

($46-$60) Bright, full yellow. Honey, pineapple and a whiff of menthol on the nose. Then impressively powerful in the mouth but with lovely acidity leavening its concentrated fruit. Very juicy and fine for Suduiraut, and not at all outsized or overly sweet. Comes across as very young, and finishes with noteworthy spine. Quite suave. 92 points
93 points, Wine Spectator March 2006 Intense aromas of pecan pie, dried apricot, apples and syrup. Full-bodied, medium-sweet, with a dense mouthfeel of very ripe fruit and a long, powerful and spicy aftertaste. Very, very impressive. Not quite the 2001, but who's arguing? Best after 2010. 6,500 cases made.

Jon B. May 2008 90% Semillion Grapefruity, grassy nose initially, very surprizing. It turned to the normal, pleasent mix of tropical fruits and saffron. Very tropical in the mouth. Passionfruit, melon and a bit of botrytis. Sauternes is my favorite type of wine, this was the best Sauternes I've ever had. Outstanding wine. |

popped the cork on this beauty (RP95) last night after dinner. it was at about 60 degrees (fresh from the wine cellar) and not overly chilled. the aromatics exploded out of the glass...peach, honeysuckle, a hint of brown molasses. the wine is golden in colour (it's still very young at only 4 vintage years old). the aromatics did not disappoint on the palate. this is an unctious wine-very luxurious and almost decadent in the mouth. the honey and molasses were there, without question, along with a myriad of other succulent froot flavours. the wine coated my mouth for what felt like forever. it's a lot richer and thicker than you might expect.
5 stars, no question

About 2003 Chateau Suduiraut Sauternes Blend
About the Winery Chateau Suduiraut
"Chateau Suduiraut takes its name from the Suduiraut family, who owned the chateau in the 18th Century...The Suduiraut vineyards cover 92 ha of a possible 200, lying at the southern end of the commune of Preignac. The terroir is mainly sand and gravel, and the vines are 90% Semillon and 10% Sauvignon Blanc, with an average vine age of 25 years. The nearby Garonne provides the mists that engender the Noble Rot. Harvesting at Suduiraut takes place earlier than many other chateaux, a practice that causes a few eyebrows to rise. Yields are typically less than 18 hl/ha. In the cellar, Pierre Pascaud will Chaptalise if required. The wine is largely fermented in stainless steel, but some aliquots see fermentation in oak. The wine is racked the following spring and will spend up to two years in oak. The grand vin here is Chateau Suduiraut..." www.suduiraut.com
