The firmly structured, spicy, licorice and herb-tinged, black currant-scented and flavored 2003 Cabernet Sauvignon Alexander Valley is medium to full-bodied and ripe, but I am not sure it has the intensity of the 2002 or the seductive fragrance (at least not yet) of the 2001. It should be consumed in its first 10-12 years.

then you'll think this is a 5 star wine. Silk tannins, smooth cigar box flavors with light cherry and strawberry on the palate. Alcohol is hidden and this isn't a bad bottle - but it ain't $60 either. Major pass from my point of view - but if someone else is buying...... |

About the Wine
"The 2000 growing season will be remembered for the harvest that wouldn’t end. A mild spring induced even flowering and a good set. By mid-September it had warmed up and harvest was in full swing. Then the weather shifted radically and the end of September was unseasonably cool. Extra time on the vine was beneficial for wine quality and harvest was finally completed on November 1st, the longest in our 29 year history.
Winemaker’s Tasting Notes: The 2000 Alexander Valley is a classic, rich Cabernet Sauvignon with a ruby-red color and an expressive nose of cassis, blueberries, blackberries, soy sauce and vanilla. It is luscious and full-bodied on the palate and has an incredibly long finish of ripe berry fruit, vanilla and a hint of dill. This wine will continue to improve until 2018 given proper cellaring. 100% Cabernet Sauvignon"
