2006 Meyney Bordeaux Blend
Reviews of 2006 Meyney Bordeaux Blend
Chris Caughman, JJ Buckley January 2010 Showing a vivid deep ruby color, the nose oozes with seductive aromas of deep raspberry and ripe black currant with meaty tones and tobacco leaf. The wine enters soft on the palate, which is beautifully textured with an elegant tannin structure to balance the lush black fruit flavors and bright acidity. With plush fruit and a lively palate this wine is perfect for enjoying now, but also has the stuffing to last another five years in the cellar.
90 points, Wine Spectator March 2009 Spicy raspberry and blackberry aromas lead to a full body, with sweet, ripe fruit, subtle silky tannins and a long, caressing finish. This wine is all in elegance and finish. Very fine. Best after 2013. 13,330 cases made. –JS
About 2006 Meyney Bordeaux Blend
About the Winery Meyney
"Château Meyney is located in St.Estèphe and is owned by Dmes. Cordier. The 49 ha property produces on average 30,000 cases per year. Located in the east of the St.Estèphe appellation, next to Château Montrose, Meney has a similar climate to that enjoyed by the Médoc: maritime, with the Gironde estuary and the Bay of Biscay combining to act as a climate regulator and the coastal pine forests sheltering the vines from the westerly and north-westerly winds...Meyney's vineyards (Cabernet Sauvignon 70%; Merlot 24%; Cabernet Franc 4%; Petit Verdot 2%) lie on clay-gravel soils. Vinification includes 15 months' wood ageing, 30% new oak...Meyney is classified as a Cru Bourgeois."
