Reviews of 2006 Figeac Bordeaux Blend
Mike Supple, JJ Buckley April 2007
Dark purple core with a ruby rim, fleck with hints of violet. Rich chocolate aromas surround dark blackberry fruit over lighter notes of clay and earth. In the mouth the wine has great balance front to back. It is very smooth, lush and bright. Higher toned acids keep the bright red fruits light and fresh, allowing the tannic power to build through the finish, leaving lingering notes of rich coffee, cherry and hints of vanilla.
90 points, Robert Parker, Wine Advocate February 2009 This elegant, precocious, surprisingly soft, up-front-styled St.-Emilion possesses a dark ruby/purple color as well as sweet aromas of menthol, fruitcake, cherries, and black currants. Round and medium-bodied with silky tannins and a sensual, evolved, precocious style, it can be enjoyed over the next 10-14 years.
89 points, Stephen Tanzer June 2009 Bright ruby-red. Cassis, licorice pastille, graphite and violet on the lively nose. Suave and fine-grained; not a hugely ripe style but elegant and classically dry, with the wine's mint, licorice and herbal cabernet component dominating today. Finishes quite firm and a tad dry, with building tannins. 89 points
91 points, Wine Spectator March 2009 Blackberry, blueberry and plum aromas, with hints of sweet tobacco. Full-bodied, with chewy tannins and a mineral, currant and licorice aftertaste. A little austere, but structured. Dense. Impressive. Best after 2014. –JS
