2008 Lynch Bages Bordeaux Blend
Reviews of 2008 Lynch Bages Bordeaux Blend
Alex Lallos, JJ Buckley April 2009 Medium ruby core with a bright red rim. Restrained nose of red currant, boysenberry, and tart cherry with a touch of damp earth as well. This surprisingly fruit driven Lynch Bages is big and lush upon entry then thins out a bit before finishing with a nice tannic punch. I like the prospects of aging this wine for at least a couple decades after bottling. Nicely textured yet firm in overall structure
91-93 points, Robert Parker, Wine Advocate April 2009 This strong effort from Lynch Bages may turn out to be the finest wine produced here since the 2000. It is a backward, powerful, opaque purple-colored 2008 with fine acids, firm but sweet tannins, and thick, dense levels of attractive blackberry and cassis fruit intertwined with notions of underbrush, lead pencil shavings, and roasted herbs. It appears to be a denser, richer effort than some of the more lightweight Lynch Bages offerings of recent years. Anticipated maturity: 2013-2030.
89-92 points, Wine Spectator April 2009 Beautiful aromas of milk chocolate and crushed berries follow through to a full body, with soft, velvety tannins and a juicy finish. —J.S.

About 2008 Lynch Bages Bordeaux Blend
About the Winery Lynch Bages
"The Lynch-Bages estate (90 hectares) is located just outside the city of Pauillac, overlooking the Gironde estuary, on one of the most beautiful gravelly outcrops in the appellation.
The well-drained soil consists mainly of Garonne gravel. The sub-soil (marl, chalk, and thick clay-sand gravel, or hardpan) forms a solid, but fairly disjointed foundation, enabling the roots of old vines to grow to a depth of 6-8 metres."

About the Wine
"Almost opaque wine. An imposing concentration of ripe fruits mixed with smoky undertones. Firm tannins are hidden by the richness of the fruits and its balancing acidity. A powerful wine."
