The 1996 Miravalle La Perle Chevalier Proprietary Red Wine (4231 cases made from a blend of 87% Cabernet Sauvignon 8% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Franc) is as good as the 1995. It is a medium to full-bodied sweet rich chocolatey black currant-scented and flavored wine with a slight Medoc-like austerity but sweet fruit excellent balance in addition to purity and depth. Although less massive than the 1995 it is as concentrated and long. Anticipated maturity: 2002-2020.

Weaves together a complex array of currant cherry herb coffee mushroom anise and sage flavors that remain focused. Though the tannins are strong and unyielding you get a glimpse of fleshiness. Best from 2001 through 2010. 4231 cases made. –JL
