Wine Spectator, March 2008

Displays lemon honey mineral fennel seed and lime aromas. Full-bodied this fills the mouth with lime apple tart and vanilla character. Very very intense. Fantastic. Needs time to come together. The best white from this...

jamessuckling.com, July 2013

This is as layered and rich as a red wine but shows intense character of minerals, honey, lemon and stones on the nose and palate. Full body with a pretty depth of fruit and a long, long finish. Strength with beauty...

jebdunnuck.com, December 2017

The 2005 Domaine de Chevalier Blanc is terrific, and while drinking beautifully today, should cruise for another decade or more in the cellar. Caramelized lemons, crushed rocks, and citrus oil all emerge from this rich...

TheWineCellarInsider.com, March 2016

This sublime wine continues improving with age. The nose, with its mineralistic, fresh, crisp citrus and honeysuckle notes pairs perfectly with the full, rich, lush, sweet, ripe, crisp, fresh, lemon and pomello fruits on...

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, April 2008

Domaine de Chevalier’s fabulous 2005 white offers terrific acidity, body, and texture as well as high acidity, which suggests this wine should enjoy an incredibly long life. I recently had the 1985 at a charity dinner...

Wine & Spirits, October 2008

The freshness of this wine feels timeless. It's still there four days after the bottle was opened, a beautiful fruit presence that's as essential as the feel of summer rain, rather than the taste of any fruit that rain...

Wine Enthusiast, June 2006

(92-94 points) Barrel sample. A crisp, citrus wine, with good fresh fruit flavors. This has clean acidity, along with its ripe fruits, tempered with a touch of wood. As it develops, this wine will become bigger and more...

Domaine de Chevalier of the Pessac-Leognan appellation is classified as a Grand Cru Classe de Graves. The property belonged to the Ricard family from 1865 until it was purchased by its current owners, the Bernard family, in 1983. It is one of a very few Bordeaux estates to have kept its “domaine” title instead of using the the more popular “chateau” designation.

The estate covers a hundred hectares, of which 45 are under vine: 40 for the property’s red wines, and 5 for its whites. The vineyards are planted with 64% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc, and 3% Petit Verdot for the red wines, and 70% Sauvignon Blanc and 30% Semillon for the white wines. Soils are dark sand and fine white gravel.

Domaine de Chevalier has been run since acquisition by Olivier Bernard, who perpetuates that spirit of balance and the constant drive for perfection which have been the hallmark of their outstanding wines. The flagship red belongs to the elite of the great classified growths of Bordeaux, while the white is recognized as one of the world’s finest dry wines. The domaine also produces red and white second wines under the Esprit de Chevalier label, which are made from the estate’s young vines.
