A reliably exciting value in St.-Emilion from proprietor Mestreguilhem, Pipeau always seems to hit high on the hedonistic scale of pleasure bombs. The ruby/purple 2005 has loads of fruit, although not a great deal of complexity, but it is round, juicy and succulent, with no hard edges. This medium to full-bodied, well-made, fruit-driven wine should be drunk over the next 5-7 years. It is a sleeper of the vintage. - Robert M. Parker, Jr.
