Reviews for 2005 Potensac Bordeaux Blend

WE 93
Wine Enthusiast - Wine Enthusiast, June 2006
(WE91-93 points) Barrel sample. This wine has fine tannins that are relatively soft, with good acidity and dryness. It's not powerful, but with its fine black currant flavor and ripe fruit it shows great style .

The Château Potensac 2005 sports a clear garnet colour. The nose is modest at first, but nicely defined with blackberry and raspberry fruit, candied orange peel emerging from the background hand in hand with cedar scents. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannin and quite noticable acidity. Backward and a litle surly on the finish, this needs another three or four years to come around.

A superb value for Jean-Hubert Delon the 2005 Potensac has a deep ruby/purple color a classic bouquet of sweet red and black fruits as well as gorgeous texture and purity. Medium-bodied and concentrated this wine behaves like a Medoc cru classe. Moreover it will age very well for 10-15 years. Very impressive!

Medium red. Very ripe sweet aromas of plum mocha and bitter chocolate. Unusually sweet and supple for this wine with lovely depth and volume to its cassis and chocolate flavors. Very St. Estephe in style. Finishes... Medium red. Very ripe sweet aromas of plum mocha and bitter chocolate. Unusually sweet and supple for this wine with lovely depth and volume to its cassis and chocolate flavors. Very St. Estephe in style. Finishes powerful sweet and long with the unusually fine tannins arriving late. An outstanding performance for this chateau.

Balanced and very pretty, with blackberry, licorice and currant aromas and flavors. Full body, firm tannins and a medium finish. Best after 2008. – JS
