In contrast to several of the prior wines there was no reduction here but the nose was decidedly backward tight and almost closed revealing only grudging notes of earth and iron-infused red berry fruit that complements well the rich full sweet and generous flavors that are delicious complex and concentrated. This won't win any award for elegance but there is plenty of character and punch.
