One of my favorite Chateauneuf du Papes is the Cuvee Lucile Avril from Domaine Durieu, and the 2006 is no exception. It offers terrific fruit (black cherries, currants), lots of spice, full-bodied richness and impressive concentration, especially in the vintage. It’s drinking at point today, yet still has plenty of freshness, and I suspect will hold for a decade given its concentration. - Jeb Dunnuck
