In the same mold, with a classic, almost Old World savory character (certainly with a Paso Robles slant), the 2006 Cuvee Cote a Cote is 40% Mourvedre, 30% Grenache and 30% Syrah. Showing the ample creme de cassis, chocolate, seared meat and licorice-driven profile that’s common in this cuvee, it hits the palate with full-bodied richness and depth, yet stays lively and fresh, with no sense of weight or alcohol. Drinking beautifully now, it has silky, savory tannin on the finish, and will continue to dish out loads of pleasure through 2026. - Jeb Dunnuck
