The Talenti Winery is situated in the south of Montalcino, not far from the small medieval borough of S. Angelo in Colle. The winery was established in 1980 by Pierluigi Talenti who had fallen in love with the fascinating property and grounds, and decided to leave the mountains of his native Romagna for the sweet and sunny hills of Montalcino.

The winery now owns a total of 40 hectares, about 21 of which are vineyards. Sixteen of the hectares are Sangiovese. The remaining five hectares hold a mix of varieties such as Colorino, Canaiolo, Syrah, Merlot and Cabernet. The vines grow in a rocky soil of medium density at an altitude of about 650 to 400 feet.

Since 1999, the winery has been managed by Pierluigi’s grandson Riccardo Talenti who continues his family’s work with the same dedication and passion of the past years. Experience and thorough research of new technologies combined with a healthy respect for tradition allowed the winery to reach the high levels of quality it enjoys today.

Talenti Brunello di Montalcino is the red wine which constitutes the “heart” of the Talenti winery. Since 1981, it’s been produced with 100% Sangiovese grapes grown in the winery’s best vineyard blocks.

After careful vinification, the wine matures in oak barrels (26 and 18 hl) with a small percentage aging in 500 liter tonneaus for two and a half years. 12 months aging in the bottle follow before release.

The 2006 Talenti Brunello di Montalcino is a remarkable red wine that showcases the best of Tuscany's Sangiovese Grosso grape variety. With its deep red color and elegant bottle design, this wine is a true representation of the region's winemaking heritage.

On the nose, this Brunello di Montalcino reveals a captivating bouquet of freshly cut flowers, minerals, licorice, and juicy black cherries. The aroma is vibrant and perfumed, indicating the wine's impeccable quality. With time in the glass, the wine develops further, gaining weight and complexity while maintaining its finesse and elegance.

The palate of this Brunello di Montalcino is full-bodied and velvety, with soft and silky tannins that caress the tongue. It offers a harmonious balance between its intense flavors of dried fruits, Christmas cake, light sultanas, and Indian spices. The wine has a long, lingering finish that leaves a lasting impression on the palate.

Critics have praised the 2006 Talenti Brunello di Montalcino for its exceptional quality. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate awarded it an impressive score of 94 points, highlighting its vibrant character and impeccable structure. James Suckling also praised this wine, awarding it 95 points and describing it as "absolutely delicious" with a long finish. Wine Enthusiast gave it a score of 92 points, noting its inky-dark concentration and layers of complex flavors.

To fully appreciate the 2006 Talenti Brunello di Montalcino, it is recommended to cellar it for a few more years to allow the sharp points of firmness to soften and widen. However, it can already be enjoyed now for its exceptional quality and balance. This wine is a testament to Talenti's winemaking expertise and is sure to impress even the most discerning wine enthusiasts.
