Kobalt Wines was founded by Kevin Carriker in 1998. With the help of his friend, former-Merus winemaker Mark Herold, he purchased a small vineyard in Coombsville. After a couple of years, again with Mark’s help, Kevin made his first Cabernet Sauvignon.

Kobalt Cabernet Sauvignon (100% Cabernet Sauvignon) is full-bodied and concentrated with plush tannins.

The winery has used the same vineyards in Coombsville since 2001, with the addition of 15% Stagecoach fruit in the 2013 & 2014 vintages. These vineyard locations are warm and cool down every night, preserving the natural acidity and tannic structure. The must is cold soaked for 48-72 hours and then fermented. Once dry, the Cabernet is aged in 100% new French oak for 22-27 months. All Kobalt wines are unfiltered to preserve the natural intensity of the fruit flavors.
