The special cuvee the 2009 Grand Sol is an outstanding wine made from 80% Merlot 15% Cabernet Franc 3% Malbec and the rest Cabernet Sauvignon. It is a big wine at 15.5% natural alcohol but that's not unusual in this vintage. Plenty of glycerin and dense concentrated jammy blue red and black fruits interwoven again with some crushed chalk and spring flowers make for some complex aromatics. Add some raspberry notes in the fruit flavor profile in the mid-palate in addition to the full-bodied finish and you have a real winner and a sleeper of the vintage. Drink it over the next decade or more.
