With 12.2% alcohol and 212 gms residual sugar the L'Extravagant de Doisy-Daene consists of 50% Sauvignon Blanc and 50% Semillion. It has a very taut controlled bouquet that (pardon the expression) is less extravagant than recent vintages but is beautifully defined with touches of kiwi fruit green apple and limestone. The palate is mellifluous on the entry struck through with brilliant acidity lending it such tension and freshness that is in tune with the vintage. Denis hopes to have nine barrels of this fabulous Barsac. -Neal Martin

(97+ points) The 2010 L’Extravagant de Doisy-Daëne has a more Germanic, Riesling-like bouquet with light petrolly aromas infusing the clear honey, acacia and orange blossom. The palate is well balanced with a tangy entry, very focused and poised with a tightly wound finish that suggests this will benefit from further bottle age. This has huge potential. -- Neal Martin

Offers lots of sweet botrytis character with graham heather honey fig and glazed pear notes followed by an unctuous finish. Mouthfilling with some serious power in reserve. The most backward 2010 Sauternes I've tasted so far. -JM
