Attractive, fresh wine, with a delicious delicacy as well as the perfumed acidity. There is a tasty pear juice and spice combination to finish. (WE93-91)

Delicate nose hints at white peach, apricot, ginger and orange peel, complicated by a touch of smoky botrytis. Enters the mouth bright and minerally, showing attractive lemony freshness to its sweet, ripe tropical fruit flavors. Rather elegant in texture, finishing long and smooth, with polished tannins. Mandarin and fragrant red apple. Lots of flowers and even some raspberry. This Sauternes is very sweet on the palate with very perfumed fruit and good length. Thick. Lacks a bit of definition yet outstanding. Drink or hold.

The Lamothe-Guignard 2010 has a comparatively extroverted, more generous bouquet with scents of dried honey, butterscotch, dried apricot and melted wax that becomes more cohesive in the glass. The palate has a ripe, honeyed entry with a touch of spice (shaved ginger and lemongrass) leading to a slightly clipped finish. Nevertheless, this is a creditable Lamothe-Guignard to drink over the next decade. Drink now-2024. - NEAL MARTIN
