Tasted blind at the Burgundy 2011 horizontal tasting in Beaune. The Chablis Les Clos Grand Cru 2011 from Samuel Billaud has a very refined bouquet with subtle use of oak, hints of almond, citrus lemon and white peach that gently unfolds in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with a fine line of acidity. Crisp citrus fruit, orange zest and a hint of peach, a feminine and generous Chablis les Clos, although it is missing a scintilla of complexity on the “pretty” finish. - Neal Martin
