The palate is unctuous, decadent and powerful – completely living up to its name – with layers of honeyed fruit on the long finish. Richly rendered, with pineapple, tangerine and nectarine gélee notes carried by a racy streak of orange zest. The long, honeyed finish glistens beautifully, showing just enough tension under all the fruit to keep this balanced. Large-scaled but with terrific focus to match. The 2014 L’Extravagant de Doisy-Daëne has a perfumed bouquet with yellow plum, nectarine and orange zest aromas, clean and so precise. The palate is unctuous with a killer line of acidity, tensile and focused with a lemongrass-tinged, powerful finish. Maybe I would like a little more persistence?
