Last week, I participated in the annual Vintage Perspective Tasting put on by the Napa Valley Vintners. It includes three Cabernet Sauvignon wines from each of 15 different producers. Included are the current release, the previous release, and the vintage to be released the following year. This time, the vintages were 2015, 2016, and 2017.
Last week I attended the Appellation St. Helena (ASH) tasting. It was a preview event for the Premiere Napa Valley Auction. Twenty-one St. Helena AVA member wineries poured current releases, auction lots, and the occasional library wine. I tasted all 61 wines. It doesn’t make sense to provide notes for all of those here, so I’ll hit the highlights and address the 2017 vintage which was that of the auction lots.

This past weekend saw the wineries of the Napa Valley host their annual Premiere Auction Weekend. This was the 16th edition of the Napa Valley Vintners Association's second most important event. The Napa Valley Wine Auction held each summer in support of local charities is more well known and geared toward raising funds from consumers.
