1999 Chateau Suduiraut

Though it may be tempting to think of Sauternes in terms of “Château d’Yquem” and “the rest”, to do so would do your cellar – and wallet – a disservice. Though that prestigious estate enjoys the singular classification of Premier Cru Exceptionelle, the region's first growths can offer comparable – and occasionally superior – quality, at a much more favorable price. Perhaps no estate exemplifies this better than Château Suduiraut: per Neal Martin, it “deserves its rightful place next to Château d'Yquem and one could argue, offers better value for money.” You can put that theory to the test yourself with some of the 1999 Suduiraut, which we have for the lowest price of any vintage on the market!
This beauty has plenty of life ahead of it, but it’s already perfectly aged and ready to drink. Sauternes is a wonderful complement to any occasion, and aged Sauternes brings it to a whole new level.
Martin calls Suduiraut “one of the elder statesmen of Sauternes.” No cellar is complete without some Sauternes, and in the '99 Suduiraut you’ve got a whole lot of quality at a considerable discount to its most prestigious neighbor. This is a seriously smart buy, so get it while you can! Cheers!
