There is nothing quite like vintage Champagne. The region’s general growing conditions have made the Champagne houses masters in the art of blending, but in those rare years that everything just goes right and a vintage is declared, the world’s finest sparkling wine can emerge. That’s exactly what happened in 2006, and we’ve got a parcel of Laurent-Perrier Brut Millésimé ready to prove it!

The family-owned house of Laurent-Perrier was established in 1812, in the Grand Cru village of Tours-sur-Marne, located between three key growing regions in the Montagne de Reims, Vallée de la Marne and the Côte de Blancs. Laurent-Perrier owns vineyard land here, as well as in Ambonnay and Bouzy.

Access to its own fruit from a multitude of quality terroirs makes Laurent-Perrier’s distinctive house style possible. Per the Wine Advocate, “the assemblages of varieties, terroirs and vintages are made with the goal of keeping the freshness, finesse and elegance of the wines.” That signature freshness, finesse and elegance is apparent in every bottle of Laurent-Perrier Champagne, though it surely reaches its apex when nature cooperates and provides an excellent vintage.

The 2006 vintage in Champagne was something special, to say the least. Vinous awards it 94+ points overall, calling it “a year of powerful, rich, explosive wines” that are “intense and ripe." It’s in vintages like this that top houses like Laurent-Perrier can make truly outstanding wines.

Just over 10 years past the vintage date, the 2006 Brut Millésimé is drinking wonderfully now yet you can also lay it down with confidence for another ten years (though considering both the price and how well it’s drinking right now, why wait?!).
