2007 Domaine Christian Serafin Chambolle Musigny 'Les Baudes' 1er Cru
by JJ Buckley Fine Wines
On Sale $89.94 (reg. $129.94)
Classic Burgundy really shows its best with some age, and today we've got a rare treat - a supremely elegant 'Les Baudes' 1er Cru (which sits directly below the Grand Cru site, Bonnes Mares) from the super talented Christian Serafin that has been evolving gracefully for the last decade and now it's ready for you!
Burghound has been following this wine since it was in barrel and "all the potential that Serafin's '07s showed in cask made it into bottle and there are some excellent wines that are well worth your attention." Christian has been crafting wine at the domaine since the late 1960s so there's a wealth of experience to draw on when making world class wine and it's clear that he deftly navigated the vintage conditions.
The bulk of Serafin's wines come from further up the road in Gevrey Chambertin, and his hallmarks of firm, long-lived wines comes through in this release, though time has allowed the delicate, feminine side of Chambolle Musigny to now fully shine through. Ideally balanced and with plenty of life to carry it for still more years to come, Burgundy aficionados will be delighted to pop the cork on this "lovely" 1er Cru. Cheers!
