When a great Champagne vintage comes along we always look forward to seeing our favorite houses making the most of it! Featuring the pick of the best grapes, and a longer time on the lees, vintage Champagne is often the peak achievement for any producer. With significant acreage in the best growing sites, (not to mention two centuries of experience growing and blending great Champagne) Laurent-Perrier is one to watch in 2007. At just over ten years from the vintage date the 2007 Brut Millésimé is a perfect choice for special occasions this spring, and will pair with virtually any meal you throw at it!
Laurent-Perrier has long been known for their delicate food-friendly Champagne with an elegance that is in part thanks to top quality Chardonnay grapes. One of the largest family-run wineries in the world, Laurent-Perrier has been held in high esteem since they began in 1812. Their distinctive house style comes from spectacular holdings in Tours-sur-Marne and the Cote de Blancs, which contribute a distinctive, higher-toned elegance. Vinous wrote that 2007 was particularly favorable to Chardonnay, which no doubt encouraged Laurent-Perrier to bottle this vintage Brut Millésimé.
Praised by the Wine Advocate for their “excellent gastronomic Champagnes”, Laurent-Perrier’s “assemblages of varieties, terroirs and vintages are made with the goal of keeping the freshness, finesse and elegance of the wines.” This is the kind of refined vintage Champagne that is ready to go this Valentine’s day and develop for many years! Cheers!
