2010 Chateau Sigalas Rabaud 375ml
by JJ Buckley Fine Wines
On Sale $24.94 (reg. $29.94)
"the class is already tangible" -Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
Bordeaux aficionados with a sweet tooth will want a piece of this. The 2010 Sigalas-Rabaud is a 95-point gem from a blockbuster vintage at a terrific price!
This one is something special even by the high standards of the vintage and the estate. Per Martin, “though Sigalas-Rabaud 2010 was extremely promising out-of-barrel, I never expected that it would trump d’Yquem in a blind tasting once in bottle” (95 points). James Suckling awards 94 points, noting its "beautiful elegant texture and finesse.”
No Bordeaux collection is complete without a healthy stock of quality Sauternes, and Sigalas-Rabaud is one of the region’s very best. Only two Sauternes estates fared better in 2010 than Sigalas-Rabaud’s 95-point Wine Advocate score, and by just one point in both cases. Rieussec and Suduiraut scored 96 points each, and will cost you considerably more than our Sigalas-Rabaud price.
Trumping d’Yquem points-wise is a remarkable achievement, and a sale price of $24.94 makes this a seriously smart buy. Enjoy it now or cellar it with confidence for another 15+ years. Cheers!
