2010 Monteverro ‘Monteverro’
by JJ Buckley Fine Wines
On Sale $79.94 (reg. $149.94)
Connoisseurs of first growth Bordeaux and Napa Cab take note: if you think that all the great super-Tuscan wines have been thoroughly discovered (and priced accordingly), then the 2010 ‘Monteverro’ is sure to surprise. At over 40% off our regular price, and the lowest in the country by a significant margin, this Bordeaux blend from Southern Tuscany’s newest heavyweight is a candidate for best ground floor deal of the year.
With its first release in 2008, Monteverro stunned critics by releasing their eponymous flagship from the sleepy town of Capalbio, along the coast of southern Tuscany. The Wine Advocate wrote that owner Greg Weber’s choice to situate his estate on the gentle Tuscan slopes facing the Tyrrhenian sea showed a “level of moxie so high it touches peaks of brilliance and insanity” (Wine Advocate). Crafted in the image of the great premier grand cru of Bordeaux with Cabernet Sauvignon and Franc, Merlot, and Petit Verdot, the Monteverro is a 96pt blockbuster showcasing “dark fruit, chocolate, and spice” making for a “rich and opulent first impression” (Wine Advocate). While its first release may have shocked observers simply for not being from either Bolgheri or Maremma, today Monteverro is a shockingly good value for a collectible super-Tuscan of this quality.
2010 was one of the “great all-time vintages in Tuscany” (Galloni) and this Bordeaux blend will impress for years to come. We highly recommend you take advantage of this and get in on the ground floor!
