"...I am really impressed with the 2011s considering they follow the great 2010s. And I am going to enjoy drinking them." - James Suckling on the 2011 Brunelli
While your cellar-worthy 2010s slumber, stock up on this approachable and thoroughly enjoyable 2011 'Assunto' to scratch your Brunello itch!
Vintner Gianni Bernazzi, who Suckling notes as a “small producer to follow” owns the Bellaria estate. His Brunello di Montalcino 'Assunto' is youthfully charming now, but this still has the requisite structure to evolve for another decade. Captivating on both the nose and the palate, there's a lovely balance between pretty floral components, savory elements and the signature Brunello notes of spicy cherry and earth, that conclude with a gorgeous, long finish.
Galloni suggests that "the best 2011 Brunellos are racy, open-knit and seductive," and after tasting the 2011 'Assunto' recently we believe that's exactly what you're getting here. Quality Brunello for under $30 doesn't come around every day, so take advantage now to stock up. Cheers!
