2012 Domaine Chante Cigale Chateauneuf du Pape
by JJ Buckley Fine Wines
On Sale $27.94 (reg. $41.94)
Domaine Chante Cigale, "one of Chateauneuf du Pape's most traditional estates," according to Robert Parker, crafted a "pretty, finesse-driven" winein 2012, and we couldn’t be happier to bring it to you for the best price around by $10 per bottle!
"A beautiful traditional cuvee," per the Wine Advocate, this lovely effort is classically built and “pretty serious for a ‘basic’ Chateauneuf” (Vinous). That's in large part due to winemaker Alexander Favier, who has been described as “super-talented” by Parker thanks to his effective management of a fairly large collection of parcels in the Southern Rhone. Jeb Dunnuck of the Wine Advocate echoes those sentiments by saying, “Alexander Favier continues to knock it out of the park with these latest releases.”
This 2012 is a standout, with an exceptional core of pure dark fruits enhanced by rustic spice, crushed rocks and black licorice aromatics. With vintage conditions that allowed for "wines [that] are classic in style" (WA), Chante Cigale's Chateauneuf du Pape is crafted an exceptionally well balanced effort that's drinking beautifully.
This is easily the lowest price around for the 2012 Chante Cigale Châteauneuf du Pape and it's a wonderful opportunity to try a traditional, unpretentious wine loaded with classic Provençal charm. There's plenty of stuffing to hold this wine over the next decade, so pick some up today at this phenomenal price to follow and enjoy for years to come. Cheers!
