2012 Domaine Joseph Drouhin Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru
by JJ Buckley Fine Wines
On Sale $219.94 (reg. $319)
Domaine Joseph Drouhin has a terrific reputation for producing a wide array of Burgundy of consistent quality at every price point, and in a vintage that produced "beautiful and eminently ageworthy wines" according to Vinous, Drouhin has particularly excelled with their Grand Cru holdings, notably this "very refined" Clos de Vougeot that we have for an outstanding sale price!
2012 was a terrific vintage in Burgundy for quality, the only hitch being severely reduced yields and ranked as the smallest harvest for Drouhin in 50 years. The vintage received 95pts overall from the Wine Spectator and according to Tanzer produced “wonderfully rich, satisfying wines that offer glorious fruit and site character.”
By all accounts Drouhin succeeded in 2012 with the Wine Advocate declaring that the Drouhin family “have overseen another impressive set of Burgundy wines.” Notably, Burghound highlights that this "is classic Clos Vougeot" while View from the Cellar declares, "this is clearly a great vintage for this consistently excellent wine."
The 2012 Clos Vougeot will have a wide drinking window with broad appeal and is sure to please more demanding palates as well. With such low yields, lovers of Grand Cru Burgundy cannot afford to pass on a wine with this kind of universal critical praise. Supplies of 2012 Grand Cru level wine will not last long, so secure some while you can! Cheers!
