"Latricières-Chambertin is probably one of the most underrated grand crus in all of Burgundy, but this legend in the making is going to make people sit up and take notice of this magical terroir!" - 95+ points, John Gilman
From a domaine entering the ranks of the "top tier of producers" in the region comes this "breathtakingly beautiful" Grand Cru that's destined to be a hit for many decades to come.
Although yields were down considerably in 2012, the opposite could be said about the quality, especially in the top vineyards of the Cotes de Nuits. Wine Spectator gives the region 95 points overall, hailing the "Dense, concentrated reds, with pure fruit, elegance and freshness," while the Wine Advocate proclaims that 2012 "is a great vintage...host to a clutch of scintillating, occasionally spellbinding reds..."
The family owned plots were converted to biodynamic viticulture in the 1990’s with the vineyards yielding healthy, pure fruit that reflects the noble terroir, especially in a vintage like 2012, which the proprietors praised for such "clean and almost perfectly ripe fruit." Combine that with some top-notch winemaking, and it's the recipe for a stellar wine. As Neal Martin of the Wine Advocate proposes, "Time to give these fine wines another look if you have not done so recently."
Rossignol-Trapet's entire range has really seen its stock rise with critics and consumers over recent vintages, with Burghound stating, “They are becoming a truly excellent domaine.” The quality is clearly evident in their exquisite 2012 Latricieres-Chambertin and this will be a wonderful addition to the cellars of all Burgundy aficionados looking for the best of the best. Cheers!
